Longfill E-Liquids Guide: Everything You Need to Know

Longfill e-liquids are the latest trend sweeping the UK vape scene, offering a lower-cost alternative to pre-mixed e-liquids. Let’s break down everything you need to know to mix and vape your very own longfill vape juice!

The incoming vape tax has UK vapers rightly on edge—but as with all new vape regulations, the industry is ready to tackle these new challenges head-on. Namely, with the help of a newer type of e-liquid called longfills.

Longfill e-liquids have existed for several years, but they lived mostly in niche markets like Germany. Now, they’ve entered the UK scene, offering a DIY solution for vapers who want all the customisation options at their fingertips.

Here at Dispergo Vaping, we’ve made longfills easy with our new Nixer e-liquids range. Where other e-liquid companies will sell you a bottle of flavour concentrate and leave you to figure out the maths yourself, we’ve made it easier than ever to make your own vape juice.

Simply find your favourite flavour and choose your preferred nicotine type and strength, and we’ll send you everything you need to make your own longfill e-liquids, easy as pie!

Longfill E-Liquids Guide: Everything You Need to Know

What are Longfills?

Longfill e-liquids are large bottles (usually 60ml) which come partially filled with e-liquid flavour concentrate, leaving plenty of space for you to add a base mixture and nicotine shots. A 60ml bottle typically comes with 20ml or 30ml of flavour concentrate inside—so, roughly half full.

When you mix all of your ingredients into the bottle, you end up with a complete e-liquid.

For most longfills, this means you have to calculate VG and PG ratios yourself, and you’ll also have to figure out how many nicotine shots you’ll need to achieve your desired nicotine strength.

You’ll then need to purchase a base mixture of vegetable glycerine (VG) and propylene glycol (PG), or buy those ingredients separately and mix them yourself,

plus nicotine shots to achieve your desired strength.

What are Nixer Longfills?

At Dispergo Vaping, we had a better idea to make longfills more accessible to the average person (and those of us who struggle with the maths): a complete DIY kit à la Nixer.

No complex calculations here—all you need to know is which flavour you’d like, what nicotine strength you prefer, and which vape kit you’ll be using, and we’ll deliver everything you need to make your own e-liquid

Our Nixer longfills come with 30ml of flavour concentrate in a 60ml bottle. To make the process as easy as possible, we sell these alongside our Nixer Mixer Kits, which are available in a variety of nicotine strengths and PG/VG ratios so all vapers can make their perfect vape juice regardless of their preferred nicotine strength or their type of vape kit.

Our Mixer Kits are available with nicotine salts for MTL vapers and freebase nicotine for sub-ohm users, and they’re even available with added ice flavouring, so vapers who prefer a frosty-cool flavour can opt for added ice!

The Nixer Mixer Kits come with three 10ml nicotine shots, so all you have to do is add them to your bottle, give it a good long shake, and you’re all set!

Nixer Longfills vs. Other Longfills

With Nixer longfills, all you need is your longfill bottle and a Nixer Mixer Kit to complete your e-liquid.

Other longfill e-liquids are sold as lone bottles of flavour concentrate, leaving the DIY vaper to figure out how much VG and PG they need to ensure their homemade e-liquid is compatible with their device and coil, as well as how many nicotine shots they’ll need to use to achieve their desired strength.

On top of these calculations, you’d also need to consider how the base mixture, the nicotine shots, and the flavour concentrate itself will affect the final PG/VG ratio of the e-liquid.

For example, a sub-ohm vaper using a high-powered mod and tank kit would need a 70% VG and 30% PG blend to ensure their liquid will work with their vape coils.

Now, the flavour concentrate in the longfill they bought is made with 50% VG and 50% PG. They’ll have to use one or more nic shots—which can be made with a 50VG/50PG ratio, a 70VG/30PG ratio, or even 100% VG—to achieve their desired nicotine strength, which is another whole calculation in and of itself.

Then, they’ll need to add more PG and VG to top off the bottle—all while trying not to get sticky liquid on their hands and balancing the ever-important PG/VG ratio in the juice.

If this sounds stupidly complicated, that’s because it is. My head’s spinning just thinking about it.

While standard longfill e-liquids are very customisable, they can be quite a headache to the average casual user.

This is why Nixer beats other longfill e-liquids—they’re easy, cheap, and so very satisfying once you have the final product. And, of course, you don’t need a degree in calculus to get there; all you need is the longfill and the Mixer Kit.

How do you vape a longfill?

You can’t vape a longfill on its own; that’s like drinking undiluted squash. To vape a longfill, you’ll need to prepare it first.

You’ll need to add your nicotine shots and your base mixture and shake the bottle thoroughly for 5 minutes before you can vape a longfill.

For Nixer longfills, all you’ll need to do is add the contents of your Nixer Mixer Kit into your longfill bottle, shake, and vape.

Many vapers like to let their DIY e-liquids “steep” before vaping them. If you leave your e-liquid to sit in a cool, dark place for a few days after mixing in all of your ingredients, this gives the flavouring plenty of time to permeate the base mixture and can help to amplify the flavour.

This is an optional step, but for those who like a strong, crisp flavour, steeping is the way to go.

Shortfills vs. Longfills

Simply put, shortfill e-liquids contain the flavouring and the base mixture, while longfill e-liquids only contain flavouring. For both types, you’ll need to add your own nicotine, though shortfills can be vaped as they are while longfills can’t.

Shortfills are premixed, ready-to-vape e-liquids with no nicotine, with extra space in the bottle for you to add one or two nicotine shots. These are the premier choice for sub-ohm vapers using high-powered vape mods and sub-ohm vape kits, since they’re usually blended specifically for use in DTL vape kits.

Meanwhile, longfill e-liquids don’t come pre-mixed, and they can be used in any type of vape kit depending on what base mixture you use in the blending process. Longfills essentially separate all the main ingredients of an e-liquid, allowing you to fine-tune your juice to suit your preferences and vape hardware.

Summary

With the forthcoming vape tax imminent and the current cost of living crisis, vapers need to wake their wins where they can find them—and longfill e-liquids provide a cost-effective alternative to standard e-liquids for vapers who don’t mind a little DIY effort.

And with Nixer longfills, it truly can’t get any easier.
