SKE Crystal Plus Charging Instructions
Crystal Plus
Charging Reference
Full charging reference for the SKE Crystal Plus. USB-C cable, 5V 1A adapter, about an hour from empty to full. Plus LED behaviour, troubleshooting and everything else worth knowing.
Insert the USB-C end of the supplied cable into the charging port on the base of the Crystal Plus. Connect the other end to a standard 5V 1A mains adapter or a computer USB port. A full charge from empty takes approximately one hour. The LED indicator illuminates during charging and turns off or changes colour when complete. Avoid fast-charge phone adapters which can shorten battery lifespan.
Connector, time
plus the right adapter
Three numbers that cover what you plug in, how long it takes plus what power source to use.
Standard connector
The Crystal Plus uses USB-C which is compatible with most modern phone and electronics cables as a replacement.
Full charge time
A complete charge from empty takes approximately one hour on a standard 5V 1A mains adapter or computer USB port.
Recommended power
A standard slow-charge adapter delivers the right power for the Crystal Plus cell without stressing the battery over time.
Complete Crystal Plus charging reference
This is the Crystal Plus charging reference guide. Whether you are setting up a brand new device or troubleshooting charging issues on one you have used for a while, the information below covers what the cable is, how long charging takes, what the LED behaviour tells you plus what to do when something is not working as expected.
What is in the box
A new SKE Crystal Plus kit contains the main device, one or more 2ml pods, a USB-C charging cable plus a printed user guide. The device ships partially charged from the factory, typically around 50 per cent. For best first-use experience plug the device in for a complete charge before first vape session. A full starter charge gives the battery the best possible start and avoids any burnt-taste issues that can come from a weak coil on low battery.
Complete charging sequence
Follow these steps in order for a clean charge cycle.
- Locate the USB-C port on the base of the Crystal Plus device. It is clearly marked and sits in the centre of the base plate.
- Insert the USB-C cable end firmly into the port. It should click in with a definite seat. Loose insertion produces intermittent charging.
- Connect the other end of the cable to a standard 5V 1A USB mains adapter or a computer USB port.
- Observe the LED indicator. On most Crystal Plus models the indicator glows steadily during charging and turns off or changes colour when charging is complete.
- Leave the device to charge until the LED shows full. A complete charge from empty takes approximately one hour.
- Unplug the cable once the LED shows charging is complete. The battery protection circuit prevents overcharging but best practice is to unplug at full.
Which adapter to use
The Crystal Plus is designed for a 5V 1A USB mains adapter. This is a standard slow-charge adapter that ships with most older phones plus basic USB electronics. A computer USB port works identically. Avoid the following:
- Fast-charge phone adapters. These deliver higher voltage or current designed for modern phones. They can shorten pod kit battery lifespan over months of daily use.
- Car cigarette-lighter USB adapters with unregulated output.
- Damaged or frayed cables. Even if the device appears to charge, intermittent connection causes cell wear.
LED indicator reference
The LED on the Crystal Plus tells you three things. The exact behaviour varies slightly by device revision so always cross-reference against the printed user guide in your box.
- LED on during charging. The device is actively charging. Steady or breathing pattern.
- LED off or colour change when full. Charging is complete. Unplug the cable at this point.
- LED rapid flashing when puffing. Battery is low. Time to charge before the next session.
- LED does not illuminate. Either the cable is faulty or the device has a fault. See the troubleshooting section below.
Charging times in different situations
- Empty to full. Approximately 60 minutes on a 5V 1A adapter. Fastest on a reliable mains port.
- Half to full. Approximately 30 minutes.
- Topping up during the day. 10 to 15 minutes gives you enough charge for another couple of hours of moderate use.
- From deeply discharged. Up to 90 minutes if the device has been sitting completely flat for some time.
Troubleshooting
If the Crystal Plus is not charging normally try this sequence.
- Swap the USB-C cable. Cables fail more often than devices. Test with a known-working USB-C cable from a phone or another device.
- Try a different adapter or USB port. The original adapter may be faulty or under-powered.
- Clean the USB-C port. Pocket debris plus dust interferes with the contact. Use a dry cotton bud to carefully clear the port.
- Try a full charge cycle. Leave the device plugged in for a full two hours even if it appears not to be charging. Sometimes a deeply discharged cell needs an extended cycle to revive.
- Contact the retailer. If none of the above restore charging the device is likely faulty and eligible for warranty replacement within 12 months of purchase.
For a replacement device or spare pods our SKE Crystal range stocks the full Crystal Plus lineup with every flavour plus 12-month hardware warranty.
From plugging in
to first vape
Four steps from USB-C connection to a fully charged device ready for a day of use. The whole cycle takes about one hour.
Plug in
Insert the USB-C cable into the port on the base of the device. Seat it firmly until it clicks.
Connect to power
Connect the other end to a 5V 1A mains adapter or a computer USB port. Avoid fast-charge adapters.
Watch the LED
The indicator glows during charging. From empty the full cycle takes approximately one hour. Breathing or steady pattern is normal.
Unplug at full
When the LED turns off or changes colour, charging is complete. Unplug the cable and the device is ready for use.
Charging habits that
stretch device lifespan
Always use the supplied USB-C cable
Or a known-working replacement cable from a phone. Damaged cables cause intermittent charging plus shorten battery life.
Use a 5V 1A adapter only
Avoid fast-charge phone adapters which stress the small pod kit cell over months of use.
Charging takes about one hour
From empty to full. Topping up takes less. Deep discharge recovery takes up to 90 minutes.
Keep the port clean
A dry cotton bud clears pocket debris from the USB-C port without damaging the contacts.

Charging practices that
extend battery life
Small charging habits add up across the one to three year life of a Crystal Plus. Here is the side-by-side on what helps versus what shortens battery lifespan.
Extends battery life
- ✓Use the supplied USB-C cable or a known-working replacement.
- ✓5V 1A mains adapter or any computer USB port.
- ✓Charge during waking hours so you can unplug at full.
- ✓Room-temperature charging away from radiators and sunlight.
- ✓Keep the USB-C port clean with regular cotton bud clearing.
- ✓Stop at 80 per cent for longevity where you can.
Shortens battery life
- ✗Fast-charge phone adapters can shorten battery lifespan.
- ✗Damaged or frayed cables cause intermittent connection.
- ✗Charging in hot locations including sunny windowsills.
- ✗Regularly running to zero and charging to 100 stresses the cell.
- ✗Ignoring pocket debris in the port leads to charging failures.
- ✗Using non-UK adapters with incompatible voltage output.
